This service sets up Health & Welfare LPAs for you and your partner in one streamlined process. Each of you will have your own legally independent document, ensuring someone you trust can always make care and medical decisions on your behalf.
Many couples assume their partner can automatically make health decisions for them — but without an LPA, that's not the case. Hospitals and care homes need legal authority, and without it, your family may face a costly Court of Protection application.

- Medical capacity assessment (per person) — if concerns arise about capacity, a formal medical opinion may be required. This is a third-party cost set by the GP or specialist (quoted separately)
- Complex or unusual instructions/restrictions — bespoke conditions beyond standard arrangements (quoted separately)
- Replacement of attorneys after registration (quoted separately)
- Changes to a registered LPA (quoted separately)
Your situation may be entirely straightforward and not require any of these.
What Happens If You Don't Act?
Without LPAs, if either of you loses capacity, the other has no automatic legal authority to make health or care decisions — even as a spouse. Your family would need to apply to the Court of Protection, costing thousands of pounds and taking many months, during which critical care decisions may be made by someone you haven't chosen.

Both LPAs are signed in one appointment. Aaron acts as Certificate Provider for both documents.
OPG Registration
Aaron submits both LPAs to the Office of the Public Guardian. Registration takes around 20 weeks.
Your matter is complete. We'll send you copies of all final documents and store the originals where appropriate.

Required disclosures for Health & Welfare LPA (Couples)
What is included: An initial joint consultation (in person or via video call) to take instructions from both of you. Professional drafting of two Health & Welfare LPA documents by a qualified Solicitor. Aaron acts as Certificate Provider for both. A secondary meeting to oversee the formal signing and witnessing. Full OPG registration for both LPAs. Storage of your original documents (optional).
Our standard fixed fee applies to straightforward matters. Where complex issues arise — such as the need for a formal mental capacity assessment or medical report — additional charges and third-party disbursements may apply. We will always discuss and agree on these fees with you before proceeding.
Important Note: A separate client onboarding fee of £35 + VAT per person applies to all new instructions to cover ID verification and file setup.
